Didn't know this is premiered today. As if Saturday is not already packed...

Drip Monke • 1 year ago

Good thing we had some practice last fall season, which also had a packed saturday.

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

Its packed but this anime has potential. The train coming out was dope. Kanebari of the iron fortress vibes. Also the girl should become the next fire hunter

Porthya • 1 year ago

I got Kabaneri vibes from the graphics and animation on vegetation alone, also from the colour composition, that hill with the Warashi temple really brought back to mind the movie 😅
Edit: There's also something reminiscent of Joran: The Princess of Blood and Snow too, maybe in the forced inheritor premise and that flame extracted from beasts being an alternate resource like the dragon vines...

Biren Shrestha • 10 months ago

Kabaneri vibes for sure, Hopefully it doesn't have an ending as bad.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

That it is

Good thing gogo is taking some time between them, time to watch it without some buffering

Boss_Sano • 1 year ago

Too much time to fix those Chinese subs

Jack • 1 year ago

Yeah that's what happen when they want to upload fast lol they forget wich subs they're in

Kira • 1 year ago

The other anime are whatever, so not really that packed.

Hopefully this is decent. I'm kinda disappointed so far with this season of generic Isekai...

YOSHIDA MAN • 1 year ago

For real my friend, This season and previous season have been same. My favourite genre is Isekai, unfortunately Isekai anime nowadays aren't like how they used to be.

Recently it has been Quantity over quality.

What pains me most is strangely even those iskai animes get decently popular and some really good anime like this aren't much looke on.

ItsKeazol • 1 year ago

Yeah there is so many of theme. But what are we kidding. We are probably gonna watch most of them.

Kira • 1 year ago

Lool

Boss_Sano • 1 year ago

The otome game one was a good switch up on the typical troupe we’d see.. and there’s some reincarnation one with the homie ray white.. also tbh last season was a little of let down so I have high hopes for this one

Rob Serrano • 1 year ago

The more the merrier.

'Don't introduce it like it's your own.' that was so uncalled for.

And wow, that girl bought the mask just to use it when Touko leaves? She really harbors a lot of resentment for her.

tbschen • 1 year ago

Yeah that did look like a death stare.
Then again the rain running down the mask looked like symbolic tears. So either she resents Touko because her own life is so hard or she secretly does care for her and doesn't show it whatsoever.

Boss_Sano • 1 year ago

Her cousin gonna train up and try to kill Touko.. if not why wear the mask?! That zoom in on her eyes said a whole lot to me

tbschen • 1 year ago

What would she train for? As if she couldn't kill a 5 year old if she wanted to.

vovan1 • 1 year ago

maybe, but then again they have some religious concept about those hunters and their dogs. / replica of some Japanese rules

She is so thoughtful, she made sure her sister knows.

Sane Khet • 1 year ago

I think it's to hide her tears or her pride.

Bittersweet Revenge • 1 year ago

This looks interesting 😁

vovan1 • 1 year ago

yes, settings the rail-less trains and the hidden Rain Village. This looks promising.

apyro • 1 year ago

Those trains are screw-propelled vehicles, a real thing in arctic/antarctic because they drive well amphibiously or on soft ground like sand, snow, deep dirt and swamp. Not any good on firm soil though, so driving one through temperate forest is strange.

Scramler • 1 year ago

This gives me strong Shinsekai yori and Mushihi vibes, it seems it's not popular yet, but I have great expectations for it.
It seems to be set in a post apocalyptic world where there is no fire and they found a substitute for it, but it's rare. the thing I like the most for now is the fact that every character has it's own face features, not just the same face with a different wig, real respect for that. Anyway looking forward to more episodes

Thicc brows • 1 year ago

completely agree, reminds me of the 2000s. Anime like this is really special nowadays. Also it pains me that people call this artstyle 'unusual' as if it's a bad thing, because it really isn't, anime with this much artistic freedom should really be encouraged

LesK • 1 year ago

it is unusual because they are using an art style that is VERY antique in Japan. we're talking art that predates the Meji Era Reconstruction of the 1900's and the accelerated Westernization and industrialization of Japan. only the oldest of the oldest craftsmen lineages and their students in Japan even TRY to recreate this art-style.

for example, founded in the Gregorian/Julian year of 578 Kongō Gumi Co., Ltd. (株式会社金剛組, Kabushiki Gaisha Kongō Gumi) based in Osaka, Japan was the oldest continuously operated company in the world till it was sold in 2006. it was a family owned and operated Buddhist temple construction and restoration/renovation group run by the Kongo family. they were such a renowned family of builders, that they even participated and did extensive work on Osaka Castle. starting from its' first construction through more modern restorations/renovations of the Castle. but like any other business, when the profits dry up the business has to fold.

when the tastes of the people change, artisans, artists, and other creatives must adapt as well. or they will fail to be able to support themselves and their families.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Indeed and this also reminds of that one video game that came out years ago that has the same style or similar.

Scramler • 1 year ago

I really don't understand people who say that, I'd rather watch something that has a more unique art than the same copy-pasted face all over the screen.

Jack • 1 year ago

Not gonna lie I was REALLY waiting on this one just by the anime pic alone, I'm not a fan of this anime style that much but the story is just very intriguing I had to watch it. Train chief should f* off "Introducing him like it's yours", he surely doesn't know that when an animal chooses you it's for life XD.

joblesshobo • 1 year ago

I love post-apocalyptic settings. It looked like this one is build around the phenomena (myth?) of spontaneous human combustion.

Vlad • 1 year ago

It's a real thing, but not as spontaneous... From what I can tell, it often occurs when the following factors are present:
1) someone unconcious, or unable to move for various reasons
2) obesity
3) severe ketosis (a state of diabetes, which you can actually smell!)
4) a fire source, quite often a lit cigarette.

So, someone passes out, the cigarette causes at least some smouldering on textiles and the combination of obesity and ketosis allow the human to burn, with the clothes acting as a wick. It can be replicated, but it's not that easy without dousing someone in a flammable liquid... Thus, the experimental data leaves a lot to be desired...

humm... i've read a few pieces now and again on the history of 'battle tanks'... and that Archimedes Screw Drive like they're using on those two 'collection trucks' was an early failure. occasional watercraft have tried that design also and the ASD type does work sorta-kinda well on water. the most interesting concept behind the ASD type is that the two screws can turn opposite of each other to allow a vehicle to 'rotate' in place... as long as the 'surface' the screws are digging into doesn't turn into an over-churned 'batter' of muck dirt and debris. but those 'collection trucks' are too long and narrow to rotate in place. that's why you see them back up and turn in reverse to leave the village.

some of the major disadvantages of the ASD type are as follows. rocky or sun-baked terrain that is too hard for the lands of the screws to bite into. that is why ASD type vehicles SUCK on paved surfaces. there is nothing for the lands to bite into. plus, highly sloped surfaces will cause the vehicle to backslide while going uphill or lose traction going downhill. also, a nice sized rock suddenly being dug up by the lands will sometimes lodge in the grooves and cause the vehicle to lose traction. or even get jammed between a screw and the body of the vehicle. uneven terrain that is very bumpy will make the ASD type high center easily so that one screw is dug into the ground, but the other screw is 'stuck up in the air'. plus, the ASD type drivetrain is HIGHLY complex and requires a great deal of gearing and mechanical assistance through four or more transmissions moving the engine's power to four points of drive, one on each end of each screw. unless the motors are directly connected to each end of the screw and are electric ones.

frankly, these guys should have just stuck with what works. multi-jointed caterpillar tracks (like we use on construction equipment and tanks) as well as tires.

Vlad • 1 year ago

I thought the same and something I've been pondering about is what if there was a civilisation ending event, but humans survive it? How would it look like a generation or three later? The economy would be in shambles, just like anything that ressembles an organised state, and technology and knowledge would be lost, but people are creative and not all would be lost. I thus could imagine something akin to a mix of medieval technology and some items from our era, at least those that are relatively easy to maintain (if it wasn't for the spontanious combustion, firearms would definitely be on this list, but they'd be expensive and so would be the ammunition).
BTW: something that will become more common again is bartering. We tend to forget that feudal societies were not based on money. They asked for taxes in goods for a reason... From what I know it was a wild mix of official and unofficial currencies including foreign coins, but also salt and rice...

LesK • 1 year ago

mhm, the local lord provided protection and management and his fiefdom provided him with goods, services, and foodstuffs. he in turn provided men and some of those goods and foodstuff to HIS boss as well as his support during combat operations with men and suchforth. basically, a big bunch of bandits demanding protection 'money' from the locals or THEY will rough them up instead of the neighboring town's bandits. :D nobles just became that way because their daddies and daddy's daddies were good bandits who didn't kill off ALL the civilians and protected them just enough so the civilians would support the bandits. :D

it all depends on the severity of the catastrophe. was 10% of humanity killed off? or 10% of ALL life on Earth? what was the impact on infrastructures and buildings and suchforth? was the flora and fauna affected or just people? the area around Chernobyl is a great way to study this. the 'cleaner' areas are still too 'hot' to live in safely. but folks can walk the areas and photograph and examine the buildings and suchforth and see what happens when people vanish but nature ... technically keeps on going. other less dangerous places like Detroit's old car factories can be studied since they are totally abandoned, and nobody wants to demolish the buildings and repurpose the land. WW2 structures in Germany still exist abandoned by the Nazis and were never reused after the Soviets or Germans moved everything around... even till today nobody needs these buildings or wants them out in the wilderness, so they just slowly rot away.

not ALL knowledge would be lost. a LARGE amount of it is still printed in books and such even today. chemistry textbooks and math and sciences and engineering schoolbooks would still exist in college libraries, even local libraries would be treasure-troves of books. manuals and instructions for power plants and water treatment facilities would still be inside those buildings. car dealerships would have fluids, parts, tools and books on repairing vehicles.

Yooo, this feels special!!
Can't wait to see where it goes

Boss_Sano • 1 year ago

I’m locked in! I caught dororo feels. This art style is like blade of the immortal.. the story line and technology got super intrigued like 5 months if things go smooth.. a year n a half if they don’t go get to the capital.. it’s real deal exciting to see how they’ll show world building. And how touko n kanada are gonna survive and what obstacles they’re gonna face.. I honestly can’t wait
